CB750 hondamatic ignition with gear engaged
« on: May 09, 2019, 02:33:34 AM »

good morning
a question ... is it possible to restart our bike with a gear engaged?
It happens that in city traffic the engine switches off, to switch it back on it must be put in neutral to switch it back on, put the car in gear and start again.
I had thought of adding a left lever with an electric button that allows me to turn the engine back on.
Do you know where to open or close the circuit that allows re-ignition?
Thanks Orazio

See the change relay schematic - it shows how the "change relay" controls when the starter can be engaged.

You can either put another switch around the change relay contact, or any other switch connecting a black wire to the LG/R wire from the starter solenoid.

This is a safety issue - not to start the bike in gear; proceed at your own risk.
1978 CB750A (upgrading very, very slowly)

Past bikes - Honda: SL350, CX650C, CB900C, CB1000C, CM450A; Kawasaki: several 1972 750 H2's; Suzuki: TC90J.

Bikes I want: CX650ED, a mid-sized japanese V-twin with ABS.
