Dr. House
« on: January 26, 2007, 03:58:38 PM »

Now I won’t deny that the Japanese were well off side at Pearl Harbor, and that their ideas on preparing fish for the table are undoubtedly poor  -  but by golly , they do know some things about making motorcycles.  Twist the throttle wide open on this machine [Kawasaki ZZR 1100] , and it’d push your eyeballs through the back of your head.

It never ceases to amaze me how an actors career can change at the whim of American TV.

Here we have a fine English actor, notable for his buffoonery and general comic demeanour, being cast as a grumpy American sod of a doctor. Which I think he does very well. I just can't shake images of his roles in the Black Adder series.

But whatever, he is a keen motorcycle rider....

I know. I will always picture him as Bertie Wooster... And Steven Fry will always be Jeeves. I had a hard time watching Fry play such an idiot in Gosford Park! (which he did very well..) :)

The point he is very good Actor. If you notice he has an American accent, but he uses English sarcasm. How about Bob Hoskins, who speaks cockney but can sound as American as my Uncle Nicky from the Bronx.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Buffoonery?  Well!  I'll have you know that I won the Scripture Knowledge Prize at a very young age.
