FYI spokes
« on: June 21, 2019, 01:56:23 PM »
I noticed Genuine spokes for the A bikes include the spoke, nipple and a small washer. I assume the washer protects the aluminum rim from the spoke nipple. Standard spokes are said to fit, something to watch for.
CB750 lists the kit reasonably priced with the washers.

This should Go in the other section.
On Buchanan's stainless sets, the fat ones, bigger diameter nipples I think. I dont think anyone used washer onnthem ? Or ?
Lacing tip  we are doing a wide akront with stainless spokes and big nipples, and it required re angling on 3 rows of lholes.
So I think the nipples are seating more on one side on some. I think it's ok but may bed in.
 So I used this trick..
With spokes fairly snug, I took an aluminum drift, and having a helper  hold rim, gave every nipple a good hard rap. And they loosened a bit. I think I will do it one more time, less chance of them bedding in and losing tension.
So remember,  a good rap to seat the nipples never hurts..

Thanks Frank. I'll add that to my rim lacing routine. I'm maybe going to move the A rim to an F disc brake hub.

I'll need to check spoke length, I noticed on cb750.com the F0 rear hub uses a different spoke kit than K or obviously A bikes.  I believe A spokes will be the right length and include the washer, if not I'll order F spokes and re-use the washers on it now.
