I've been working towards a garage build. I need somewhere to park all these bikes now

Finished up the front end with new brake piston seals, figured out how to mount rear turn signals, did some wiring etc.
Waiting on some switches to finish off the handle bar wiring, and just ordered my rear-sets

I broke the 1st set

Think I may now have enough parts to cut both ends off the new ones for side bars and make them function.

Not great quality when you are trying "to mock up" Time will tell

looks like I should build you a 45 deg block, do you want the damper stud facing down like in the pic or turned 90 deg toward the frame?

I'll take a photo of the damper on my 78K because the "backwoods installation" I did on that bike worked out great

I have been trying to fix the broken crap on the right handle side switches. Seems I buy on Ebay what I think I need, but between the hardware I have and the stuff I buy and the "new" wiring harness I come up short,.

This one had an extra black wire, but what the hell

Every time I touched something the wire came loose. A very slow day with my reading glasses soldering. Christ there are ball bearings, widgets and with 4 different sets I think I may have built a good one. Time will tell

I spent at least 2 hours on that piece. Remember I'm not that smart

I had the whole thing put all together and then the clip thing dropped!!!!!!! and I had to completely disassemble and put it all back together again, only to have one of the wires break off and then soldered back on again and then reassemble again, only to have it fall off again!!!!!!

I did get it on tight at the end

Not only did I loose the spring, but those damn little balls while putting my polished units back together. I chuckled a bit seaweb when I saw the pics of your hand control units. I ended up getting 3 and a half sets to put my one set back together. The devil is in the detail....

I spent the weekend trying to get this stupid right side control on.....................

No Go! I keep running into a wiring issue with the bars and I can't get the mounts flush on the bars

I'm beginning to think I am working with a top and a bottom that don't match.
I will post photos soon, perhaps someone has one that fits

Then I can carry on with the build

I gave up with my bar switches (I don't like the left side anyway) and bought some lovely modern switch gear from a Blackbird instead

Which means if anybody in the UK is looking for a set that's almost complete (the starter button assembly is missing) I now have a pair available

Yeah....thats the ones.If you get them,let me know and I will look through my notes to help you wire them up. Yamaha has a couple of different systems in their bikes so you have to do things a bit differently. It sure is nice having everything working again and besides....they should be on your bike.....they are chrome!!!

I hear ya seaweb.

My stupid left hand control wouldn't keep the blinker on and I had to make them stay on to get the bike inspected. I have 5 hours screwing around with that switch, and home kludged springs in there because on my first re-assembly the damned springs shot across into the netherworld of the garage.

Switch re-assembly and repair makes carbs seem easy

OK...heres what I have. Its been awhile since I did this but I did jot down what I did. Also...I remember I by-passed the clutch safety switch. Here goes
Right control-6 wires
Yami function Honda (75K)
blue/white start yellow/red
red/yellow lights + black
blue instrument lights brown/white
brown kill switch + black
red/white kill switch to coils black/white
blue/black lights to dimmer to blue/yellow wire on left control

Left control-10 wires
blue/yellow dimmer to lights to blue/black wire on right control
yellow high beam blue
green low beam white
black ground green
dark green right turn sky blue
chocolate left turn orange
brown/white turn + grey
pink horn light green
yellow/black,yellow/red,&blue wires not used

Hope this helps you. I had a helluva time because I couldn't find a decent Yami wiring diagram but everything works.
