I'm not sure that the conclusion that women are safer driver's is warranted by the stats in the study. Not to say that women aren't safe drivers (or are any worse than men), but just because men are more likely to die in an accident doesn't imply that men have
more accidents, just die more often. The study says nothing about fender benders or minor injury accidents...
Sooooo - A woman with 20 accidents under her belt would still count as a "safe" driver by the parameters of the study (provided she's breathing) , while a man that was killed driving his car (perhaps not at his own fault) is "unsafe" (in addition to dead of course...
)...
So does living through 20 accidents make you a safer driver than having only one and dying as a result?
Or even imagine this scenario- a woman driving home @ 2 am hits some poor shlub riding his m/c home. His death chaulks one up for men being dangerous drivers, while she counts as safe!
Statistics can be arranged to prove anything!!! (not that I condone drinking and riding)
