Why you shouldn't drink and ride

'But the death rate on motorcycles was nearly 32 times higher than for cars.
One of the riskiest combinations in the database are men between ages
21 and 24 who drive motorcycles between midnight and 4 a.m.
Their road fatality risk is 45,000 times higher than normal."

INTERESTING...

oh, sorry... forgot we can't only reply with just that  ;D
i think there is a lot of reading between the lines on this one... but, they do a pretty good job of telling you how to do that which is refreshing for a statistical report.

That's why whenever it's drinking time, the bike stays at home.

If you can't walk, how the hell are you supposed to ride? :o

I use to boast at my clean driving record but my ex always said to me ..."Men have more accidents because its the woman that cause them".... he swears that we erratic woman drivers cause the accidents wherever we go and we appear to be totally oblivious to all the chaos we cause around us....now I dont believe this even for a minute ;D....good thing perhaps not to many of us ride bikes  :P between midnight and 4am

I knew a guy who rode home after a long night at the bar. He made it home OK, but as he fumbled around for his keys he heard a "crunch" behind him. He turned around and saw his full-dresser '83 Gold Wing on it's side. He forgot to put the kickstand down and it sat there for almost 20 seconds after he got off it before it finally toppled over... :P

At least he thought it was 20 secs :)

I have a friend who when out drinking and hopped on his bike to go home.
Made it fine he said though he doesn't remember any of the trip home.
The next morning he awoke and was all scratched up. Couldn't figure why.
When out side and his bike was parked in the middle of the bush at the front of the house. ;D ;D

True story: Back in the day when I was a MC member, partying and riding was the norm  ::)
Three of us rode from Stuttgart on a Friday afternoon to another Chapter`s clubhouse in the Black Forest for a weekend of debauchery at it`s finest

Sunday afternoon I wake up and find myself in my own bathroom, wobbled out to the living room to find one of my buds snoring away on my couch, no sign of the third guy. I wake him up and ask him who gave us a ride home and he says he really doesn`t remember either. I call up another friend to get a ride down and pick up our bikes, he shows up and says "Look outside".
Both bikes were sitting in the neighbors driveway

The third guy woke up with a cow staring at him, he got bogged down in a farmer`s field 80 km over the border in Austria :o

Needless to say, I don`t drink and ride / drive anymore.

Too much may have saved me one night.  The bike was running too badly- couldn't accelerate and it was burbling, so I just turned around and parked it and went to bed.  Next morning I found the choke was still on.
Of course, that didn't stop my drinking and riding, it just made me check the choke next time.

I quit drinking when I finally figured out that was why I woke up feeling like hell every morning.  I'm not as smart as I look.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

I'm not sure that the conclusion that women are safer driver's is warranted by the stats in the study. Not to say that women aren't safe drivers (or are any worse than men), but just because men are more likely to die in an accident doesn't imply that men have more accidents, just die more often. The study says nothing about fender benders or minor injury accidents...

Sooooo -    A woman with 20 accidents under her belt would still count as a "safe" driver by the parameters of the study (provided she's breathing) , while a man that was killed driving his car (perhaps not at his own fault) is "unsafe" (in addition to dead of course... ::))...

So does living through 20 accidents make you a safer driver than having only one and dying as a result?

Or even imagine this scenario- a woman driving home @ 2 am hits some poor shlub riding his m/c home. His death chaulks one up for men being dangerous drivers, while she counts as safe!

Statistics can be arranged to prove anything!!! (not that I condone drinking and riding)
