75 750F seat comfort
« on: July 14, 2019, 12:37:03 PM »
I was curious if anyone has seen a source for new foam or any gel options to reduce butt and back fatigue?

Hopefully we get an answer...lol. I have an old mattress topper about 4" thick, I was considering trying that out but not sure, may not be dense enough and my ass will be bottomed out on the frame rails...LOL. I know at Bike Week events there are always vendors with gel pads that they install in seats. They remove the seat cover, use an electric carving knife and they cut out a hunk of foam big enough to insert the gel pad, they are supposed to be much easier on the ass and back but I simply bought a Mustang seat for my Heritage and called it a day.

That is exactly what is wrong with mine...the original foam has broken down enough that I sink too far into it.  I have found that firmer foam is more comfortable, for me, anyway.  Thinking about going the Corbin gunfighter route, as I have one on a Gs1100e and it is perfect, but I don't want to lose the original styling.

I stumbled upon this last night and I have an e-mail out to them regarding the cost to rebuild my existing seat. Once I get an answer I will post it here but I am expecting somewhere in the 350-450 range from what I have seen on other seat guys sites.

I have the Corbin Gunfighter seat on one of mine.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

I will look those up, not sure what they look like but could be an option.

OK, I got an answer, and it's not bad at all, I may be going this route and reuse my original existing seat cover.

Hello Cliff,

Gel and memory foam inserts in your seating area is $169. We can reuse the original cover or a new cover is $300.

Thanks,
Monica

That is VERY reasonable for that kind of service.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the comfort level on the seat for my F. On my trip earlier this month I had multiple days with 4 hours of riding and had no comfort issues at all.

+1 thats a great price. Please let us know how it works out if you go that route. I had Eddie Barret in CT re-do my seat and this past weekend 300 miles one day and 200 miles the next. After 200 miles my rear was feeling it. Id say thats not bad for a seat.

Good luck
Andy
