Hey there!
« on: July 19, 2019, 10:56:34 AM »
Hi, friends! My name's Jason and I'm from Detroit. I just brought home my very first SOHC/4 (but not my first ratty, dirty old Honda): A sadly neglected '75 CB550 (not 100% sure if it's a K or an F). As you can see in the pictures, it's rough. It was pulled out of a barn after probably 30 years just last week and I snapped it up for a song. As you can see, it was fitted out as a low-buck touring bike with a Vetter Windjammer 4, S&W air shocks, a Martek 440 ignition, oil cooler, king/queen saddle, and other old-school aftermarket gear. I'm pretty sure this thing was crashed (low-speed laydown on the left-hand side, looks like) and that's why it was parked. It didn't come with pipes, sadly, so that's on my immediate list of needs.

Other than that, my plan is to clean it up, get it to as close to stock as I can, and sell it. That said, every plan is a great plan until first contact and I'm already considering selling my recently restored CB450 and keeping this. Time will tell.

Welcome from NE MN,

A bath really improved the looks of the bike.

It did, it looks way better now. Once I got it (mostly) clean though, I discovered just how rusty the frame is. I reckon I'll strip the bike down, sand the frame and swingarm, and repaint them black.

If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

Welcome from Texas.   Your 550 is a K model.   Best deal on a good exhaust is the Delkevic...

Good to see you threw the fairing and seat in the trash bin!   Good Luck...
