use new or existing carb parts?
« on: July 31, 2019, 09:40:59 AM »
Finally getting around to my carbs. Cleaned and ready for assembly.  I had a local MC shop help in ordering parts...Have K&L "genuine carb replacement kits for each carb.

Question...do I use these replacement jets, or take o-rings off and reuse existing?  I've read some aftermarket jets can be troublesome.

When I cleaned and refreshed my carbs I got a full rebuild kit and new jets from an on line supplier.  I dropped $100 in parts and was able to use the o-rings only the rest was junk. Fortunately I saved the old parts and was able to clean and reuse them.  If your parts do not come from Honda resuse all the brass and misc that you can.

+1

My first aftermarket rebuilding kit I used everything, I was lucky.

The second one, for Red, needles did not fit jets -  meaning carbs never fully closed.  Frustrating.
