1974 CB360
« on: August 02, 2019, 11:11:09 AM »
I started working on my daughter's  74 CB360.  Cute bike  ;D

I set up the work standard from the beginning.  Imagine this:

- I unlock the seat and lift it up.
- Leave keys on the rear fender.
- Five minutes later i close the seat with keys underneath it.

You can't make this #$%* up, it takes talent  ;D ;D   I was able to pull the seat pin - lucky I guess.

On a side note, there is not much worse smell than old, rotted gasoline, IMHO.

I will have some pictures later, it's missing front caliper, but seems to be in good shape,

I just fixed up a 75 I think? Incredible how it rides so differently than the 350. It's a fast bike. I haven't even had it in sixth yet. It is a fun bike but I don't like how hard it bucks you around.

I rode one [a rental] around the Island of Oahu a couple times many years ago. Was a blast!

Sounds like my luck.

I was cleaning out my G10 van years ago.
Lost the keys in the driveway/front yard. Still haven't found them.
Moved it literally 5 feet to vacuum it out. Yes... checked the vacuum bag. Cost me $125 for new keys.
I swear, there's a black hole around my garage.  There's a CB550 wrist pin clip...... somewhere.

I did a 74 a few years ago. Take a look at the engine number area and see if there are 1 or 2 dimples. There was a cam chain tensioner recall on those bikes. Once fixed the mechanic is supposed to put those dimples in there. Check this out: https://www.hondatwins.net/forums/48-engine-discussion/8928-1974-cb360-timing-chain-tensioner.html

Good to know, thank you, Johnie.

Yes, there are two dimples - over and under the dash of the VIN.

I bought the first one my local dealer got back in 74. Mine did not have the front disc brake though. I rode it back and forth to high school my junior and senior years. It was a solid and reliable bike. A friend of mine had a Kaw 400 triple and as far has straight line performance the 360 could not hang with triple. ;D
