Hello everyone!
My name is Dylan, I'm 25 years old and I live in Antwerp, Belgium (I apologise in advance if my English is not always correct).
I've always been a fan of the Honda mini motorcycles, such as the Dax and Monkey.
Here are two of my previous mini's:
I bought my first '78 CB750F2 2 years ago and made it into a cafe racer, because I really like the look of that.
The engine already had a rebuild when I got it.
Then we had a baby on the way so I sold my bikes to buy a family car
Since I was in love with the CB750, I decided it was now time to get another one.
So I'm picking one up in 2 days, again a '78 CB750F2.
This one has seen better days. It has 66000km's (41000 miles) and never got a rebuild.
There's blue smoke coming out of the exhaust.
It will probably need new piston rings or maybe even pistons and since it's an F2, definitely new valve guides and maybe valves.
I'm also going to replace all the bearings in the bottom end.
Other things I should definitely check?
I will measure everything that I can with a micrometer at work to be sure it's still in spec or not.
The electric starter is also not rotating the engine sometimes, so something must be wrong with the starter clutch or something.
The biggest problem is that there are not many parts available here, so I will have to order some from the USA I think, which costs a lot of money to get in here.
I will make a topic in the projects section about the complete rebuild of the bike.
As a guidance I will also buy Hondaman's book, even though it is not specific for the F2 version.
I've already been reading for days about engine rebuilds on this forum.
And I will most definitely ask a ton more questions, but I think this is the right place for that.
