Sealant between valve body and lower case?
« on: November 19, 2019, 04:01:54 PM »

Since there is no gasket, is there a need for sealant between the valve body (oil passage body) and lower case? Also between the regulator valve and the oil passage body? I think not, but it has been a long time since I took it all apart. The service manual doesn't mention it, but some best practices aren't in the books. Page 9-4 is the area I'm referring to. http://manuals.sohc4.net/cb750a/service_manual/SM750A_4.pdf

I do not use sealant when assembling.

When disassembling, I've never noted any residue indicating a sealant had been used previously.

The same is true when I had done Ford valve body work - no gaskets or sealant.

Just need absolutely clean mating surfaces.

My 2 cents.

Great. Thank you for confirming what I suspected. I just wanted acknowledgement from anyone who has reassembled an "A" engine and had it work afterward.
