Hello from Chicago
« on: February 05, 2007, 07:20:22 AM »
Just saying hi, I have been looking for info on the older Honda for a while now and that search lead me here.  I currently do not have a bike (that has an engine, plenty of pedal power ones though).  I use to have a cbr125 and 250 back when but now I would like to move to the streets and thought a nice older Honda for first bike back would be fun  :)  Looking forward to the all the great sources of info here.

Welcome and good luck shopping.  I just finished shopping for a cb750 and I may be able to offer some advice.  I looked up and down all over ebay and craigslist and cycle trader and all kinds of sites once I had decided on a cb750.  They were few and far between.  Then, I posted a want ad on craigslist stating what I was looking for and how much I was willing to spend and I got tons of responses.  There's a lot of guys with the bikes that don't list them during for various reasons (in colorado, that reason is the soft motorcycle market in the winter) but a lot of them routinely browse craigslist for parts or opportunities.  If you haven't done it yet, I'd give it a shot.  I went from finding nothing I wanted to having 5 fair priced cb750's to choose from.  Best of Luck!

Welcome to the site from a fellow Chicagoin..
Actually I reside in the burbs, but saying I am from Chicago is allot easier  ;D
Shoot me an email at Saytin72@aol.com if you need anything, as I am pretty involved in the classic/vintage bike "scene" around these parts...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.  I have been researching the 500 four for a while now and think that will make a great first bike.  Any one have opinion and insights on these please let me know what you think.  Thanks

Or take the MSF class offered by NIU, for $20 donated to the program, they supply a helmet for use, you show up in a long sleeve shirt and boots above your ankle.  I heard Ride Chicago is BS for the price, and you get everything from the MSF courses offered by NIU, all you take to your DMV is $20 and the certificate of completion.  Oh, and welcome.

It is an add for Davida gear, the moto she is on is a one off "Zagato Guzzi" made for Ewan McGregor or something.  Its just a realy great shot to me.

I waiting for the MSF courses this spring, registration starts soon, $20 buck and it goes towards your license fees I believe.

Welcome tinyrobot from a fellow SOHC'r from Milwaukee!  I would check craigslist-milwaukee, as I've seen a couple of cb's for sale within the last 10 days or so in the SE Wisconsin area.

Sorry for the delay.  I picked up my 1978 CB750K a few weeks ago.  It had the cards and tank already off.  Previous owner has 4 other bike started to work on this one and decided to sell.  As far as I can tell the pipes and the tires are not original.  He said he had all the work done at a local shop here in Chicago.  I pulled the battery basket to remove the rust.  That was the only place that really had any.  Well here are some dark pics of it in the garage getting ready to put the carbs back on today and fire it up!!
