i'm from Austria (the little country next to germany
) and want to show the progression on my Honda so far. Bought the Bike in April 2019 in almost completly Stock Condition and changed some things since then. Before i start, i should mention that i do this as a Hobby and that I'm quite new with working on motorcycles and stuff like that. I also won't show you every picture i have made up until now, cause there are simply way to much
But, quit talking and start showing
So, this is how the bike looked like when i first bought it:
As you can see, the condition was actually quite nice and just needed some love & polishing for the beginning. Also the exhaust had to leave, cause yeah...that welding looked horrible.
Some hours later and my very first polishing experiences later the look got better. As a replacement for the exhaust, i got myself a replica from Busso Silencers from Italy. I just wanted to keep the original 4:1 Pipe System because i love the look. For me just simply beautiful work.
Then, i decided to change the turn lights, which were always to big in my opinion. At that time, i really did not like the look of the original "Schnapsgläser" (german name for that style) and mounted something i used on my Thruxton. The ridiculous huge piece of tail light also had to leave.
It was somehow at that time, when i realized that this is not the right way. I missed the unique parts typical for the 70s and that special vibe i felt, whenever i looked at it. Suddenly i knew what i had to do and what this bike really needs. From this moment on, i decided to mix the best parts of the Honda Cb 500 Four and CB 550 Four and tried to stay as original as possible.
I took me quite some time to realize this simply and yet in my eyes beautiful build and thought you may like it. I know it may not seem much and there is always room for improvemend. But in the end i'm quite proud of the path i took and what i created. In the future i may try out a M - Handlebar, but to be honest...i quite like the actual riding position which is really comfortable.
In case you be interested in the changes, i will try to list some:
- Honda CB 500 Tail light
- Old school turn signals, bit smaller
- Honda CB 500 Handlebar holder (Controll lights Panel) sanded & polished
- Upper triple tree from a 500 Four sanded and polished
- relocated the icgnition to the ride side
- different Grips (Beston Style)
- changed the leather of the Seat
- got myself and original, old and scratchy exhaust
- different headlight
- etc...
There were so many other things i did by the sime but don't seem worth mentioning. Nevertheless, i hope you like the actual condition as much as i am
