Still clearing my friend’s collection of WW1 machines. This BSA was restored by a gentleman in Britain and it is one of the finest jobs I have ever seen. Correct in every detail and just flawless..... when it came to Canada, I uncrated it, filled it with fluids and rode it about 10 miles. Very strong ride, real foot clutch and a three speed box. Dried it out and it has been on display since. Sad to see it go. It’s up for sale on EBay.......

 From what I have seen and read a little Englishman take great pride and craftsmanship doing correct restorations.

I like the humps on the foot pads for your boot to sit. But what if that contraption in front of the motor? The Disk-ish front brake is cool and the wheel driven gizmo on the front wheel........generator for the light????

       Whoa, what a Fantastic piece of Motorcycling History there! Just to see the photos, was Awesome. I can't even imagine, seeing it firsthand AND being able to get it ready & take it for a Spin! Talk about Pure Heaven!  ;)

JGGER...... tha box on the shelf in front of the engine is the chain driven magneto. Chain case is on the other side, you can’t see it. The sprocket drive system on the front wheel is for the speedometer (last photo). The headlamp and tail light are acetylene lamps, like an early miner’s helmet. The canister where the gas is produced is under the seat. Rubber hoses took it to the lamps they are both Lucas lamps, the rear is the original Lucas “cat’s eye”. You open the lenses and light with a match.

Thanks Benelli, that early technology has always fascinated me.  So I guess that when Lucas made the jump from gas lights to electric they kept the "flaming" aspect.🤔  Now I understand the whole "smoke leaking out of the wires" thing.

I like pre 1920 bikes more than anything..
 That type of Speedo drive was used on most stuff right through the 20s, cars included.,
 Beautiful bike.. but I must say I always found 3 weeks of December and first week of January, to be lean sales on ebay, gets time to buy though.
 I think upper end stuff is affected less by the season, than normal parts..

754...... agree on the timing, hoping calls will come in the New Year. The Matchless is in Victoria and the guy already has it running for the first time in 10 years!
