CB350F rear hub retainer

I knackered the threads on my rear hub while struggling to remove the retainer.
I read on a couple of posts here that the thread in the rear is left handed on some models. Not on the 350F surely. Could I be so stupid?

My manual states that the rear hub bearing retainer has a L/H thread but it doesn't, at least not on my bike. I nearly damaged mine trying to remove it but thankfully I tried lefty loosey and it worked.
