Spondon caliper rebuilds/ tools?
« on: March 06, 2020, 06:12:13 PM »
I know this isn't the exact right section for this but where can I find seals and the tool to remove the plug on these Spondon calipers?
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

Is the left one leaking brake fluid so bad ? Or just spilled when unmounting ?

Worst link ever below.. And don't know the dimensions of the spondon...but you might need this or similair ?

( not to hard to fab either I agree with an old socket en 4 pieces of bar stock and a welder it should be a few minutes )

I thought that was how the pistons came out since it's monobloc?

Any source for seals?

plenty of room to get the pistons out , get the inner out first as it is shallower then the outer . if you try to take the plug out it will damage the threads .the plug  was only needed for manufacture .
as i have told you before these are a very poor calliper . people think they must be strong as they are one piece but in reality they are very weak in the centre and flex a lot . if you want to use them just buy lockheed seals they are what spondon used .

Didn't realize they weren't needed to replace seals so thanks for that. Makes life much easier. These will be on a street bike based on your previous recommendation to use Lockheed calipers for racing. Also nice that they take the same seals.
