    No offense but, think about it. That is a 1916 vintage motorcycle that the original owner cleverly added a 2nd motor to. The only thing that I'd change on it would be to relocate it to my house. The 2nd motor looks like it belongs there.

                    I think it's a cool creation and well executed too. I agree about the tire thing. I also wondered about the spokes too. I've wondered what size wheels those were? If they were 26", wheel parts from a Servicycle might could have been used, if they were heavier built. Back in the early 50's My Dad took a bicycle (that was one of my Uncle's Western Flyer with the tank and a spring front end) laced up a 3-sp rear wheel with spokes and a rim from a Servicycle, front and rear handbrakes, chrome fenders and a generator with a headlight and a tail light. Pretty cool for the early to mid 50's. My cousin worked at AMF Roadmaster in Little Rock and got the parts at a discount. Wish I had pictures of it. My Dad was so proud of what he did, he was very over protective of that bike.

I think you misunderstand me Bill I like the bike No that's wrong, I love this bike . i just don't like footboards on motorcycles, that's all

I dread to think thuogh, how much time, thought, and effort went into making that second motor look like it was always there

And the bonus, as gerhed says, is that the purists would have a fit, and anything that makes them do that, is, by definition A Good Thing

                To tell the truth, I've been feeling under the weather since I got up this morning. Truth is, I probably should have stayed away from the pc today. Very, very cool. I was camping out in Sturgis about 8 years ago, and a buddy of mine had his fresh resto '47 cheif, trying to get the carburation sorted out. Up rides this old guy on a '29 Indian, just passing through, and he was the ORIGINAL owner!!! I think he was like 87 at the time. Bike unrestored, just a lot of loving care. Sort of a hijack, but this thread brought back some memories. Oh yeah- he knew how to sort out the old linkert carb too.

         No problem here Jay, always good to hear bits like that. Bet that old guy had some incredible stories too! Every time I visit my Dad (he's 81), I get to talking something about the old days or about motorcycles and he brings out some old experiences that he and/or my Grandfather had. Some I've heard before and some I hadn't.

Re the Linkert Carb.

It has to be tuned at speed, under load.
So you're hammering along at about 50 bent over trying to adjust the high speed needle just right!

50mph, oh my god   Every 'teener I've seen moving under it's own power was going "pukkita, pukkiita, pukkita, pukkita" you could almost count the revs while you were bent over oiling the valves (OHV of coarse)
