CB650z footpeg holder plate things
« on: March 21, 2020, 11:26:31 AM »
Since im the only one riding this thing i dont need the back footpegs.

Is there some replacement for those big plates left and right that hold the footpegs and brake, gearchange etc?

They seem heavy and not particularly useful. (right side somewhat more useful than left because the brake pedal is so far back).

attached pics not my bike, but similarly modded, and hasnt come up with a solution it looks.

The 82 nighthawk had an aluminum like side mount that tool the place of those. I don't know if they swap over and I've seen them on a few 650s. Partszilla calls the step holders or something like that
The other option is to cut those off and do rearset if you like that look

Don't forget those plates on the Z mount on the swingarm pivot bolt and engine mount. you will have to make spacers up to replace or shorten and rethread  those 2 bolts.

I made spacers (see pic), but it looks like your footpegs are mounted to those plates while mine (82 650sc)  are mounted to the engine mount bolt.
Is your brake pedal mounted to that plate also?
Take a look at raask rearsets for a cb750 k7 for an idea. They use a curved plate that attaches to the swingarm and engine bolt.
You might also consider a cable to operate the brake instead of a rod & pivot arrangement.  I think I've seen the cable operated rear brake system as a kit.  May have been for a sportster. Edit: see dime city cycles conversion kit.
Maybe the shorter plates from an '82sc could be retrofitted ( made shorter) to hold the rider footpegs where you want them.  That plate is somewhat hollow, so a 1/2" aluminum plate shaped like a raask plate might be easier

Yeah no like i said its not mine. Its just some pics i had where you can see the plates well because of the contrast in colour with the swingarm. Mine are both black. bit harder to see.

But i do like that bike: And yeah he's English
