tensioners look fine, glad it can be done in the frame, the automatic tensioner only had 4 clicks left in it!that rotor needed my heavy puller with big fine thread, just had to drill holes to suit the yammy.

well i dont like the rattle from the engine under load at certain rpm, thought id investigate the cam chain, looks pretty rooted, might even be the wrong one?doesent seem to sit on the sprocket properly,i know its worn but sort of sits wrong?

Your right Dave, that chain looks pretty stuffed.
But if your not used to dealing with Hy-Vo chain setups they can throw you a bit.
Hy-Vo chains do appear to sit high on their sprockets, especially if you are used to working with roller chains.

Cheers,
Brian

picked up the new chain, here it is compared to the old one that also looks to be a wiseco with the same marking on several plates, definately worn, new one is on the top,i lined em up to the left, then see how the links are outta line so much after 59 pins, its a 126 pin chain!

That's the same chain, and it's That worn.. That's a good thing to have found Dave, the bike should run Excellent with the new one,and you can get the timing spot-on  ;)now.

yeah i guess the cam wouldve been a little retarded?ill report back if it goes any better,i think only a precise dyno would detect any difference?man it had instant throttle response no lag at any rpm,its a basic big thumper carbed engine,i dont think too fussy on exact specs like a new injected motor might suffer some loss because of late cam sensor input to the computer?highly strung ktm comes to mind?

i also put the correct stickers on the whiter tank i bought,i put the 350cc stickers on the yellowed tank, this time i stuck em on heavier black sticker stuff a mate got from a sign writer, then cut them out and let sit for coupla days before filling with gas, hopefully they wont bubble up?a test patch held on fine.

yeah the old one is like smokers teeth or some #$%*?had a few cracks appearing aswell,i guess plastic dont last forever?rode the honda today, boy it feels lame after the yammy, the power is ok but the heavy steering and if its a bumpy road etc,i can see now why guys ride those super motards,#$%* i can chase down sport bikes on this yammy in real tight twisties and be right behind em on the straight aways,i love this thing, how did it take so long to find each other?

ha ha yeah so long as its tight twisties seanbarney,im thinking i need wider bars on the honda now?anyway the cam chain is nice n quiet now,had a small oil weep from the tacho blank off plate, the XTs had a tacho, new o ring and i used three bond on the surface this time,im happy with the whiter tank with new correct stickers on it,im still surprised by how good this bike steers on the road, itll really haul along twisties, gotta watch the braking though, the rear has no weight on it and will lock and slide easy when leaned right over, all good so long as your on your own side of the road, the bike self corrects easy and it doesent feel wrong, the honda would be a little out of control and close to high siding in the same situation?

yeah pretty much, that cam chain was sort of noisy from the start, but because i always wear ear plugs it took that harsh sound out, anyway all done now,im keen to get some serious dirt miles on it now.
