That right-side intake looks like it would suck your leg right in, if you had bell-bottom pants on.. ;of course those were worn before that one was built I imagine.  ::)

You have to define a lot for street and that injection has one choice of jets maybe rwo, on or off sorta thing. .
In the eighties in Sturgis A guy ran a Magnacharged Sportster with injection on the steet. When he revved it up you could hear it from 1 1/2:miles away, and it was scary fast .  Next time I saw it , it had a 10 inch slick on the back.
There was some very cool #$%* on the streets them days.
One guy had an ATP TurboPack on a Kawi  with a Windjammer  and a bore kit. And an old boy there had a Ed Roth , I think trike with a 289 Ford in it..  they had ridden together.. I asked the KawBoy how fast he figured  the trike was, and he said when they were riding he couldn't pull away from him..

OK, so I'm waiting on parts to arrive for the Z1-B and a big box arrived today. I waited for the wife to go out before opening the box of "old crap bike parts I bought cheap on Ebay".

Which in fact was a wonderful collection of Japanese artwork. I took it all out and inspected it, and couldn't help myself, I took the tank outside into the sunshine to admire.

I carefully put it back into the box and ferreted it away into my garage of many mysteries. I also got a phone call from an Indian feller in Sydney from UPS demanding a ransom of $270 for "import charges" for another big box of parts I bought from Z1 Enterprises in the US last week. There wasn't much I could do but pay the ferryman, and hope my box gets to the other side......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Doremi painters are magnificent!

Are you going to spring for their 4/4 exhaust? Those are a work of art as well.

Thanks Steve, yeah I'm really impressed with their stuff, made in Japan is nice too. No I won't be putting 4 into 4's on it (at least not in this iteration) as it's gonna be an 1100cc hotrod and while the pipes might work OK with the engine mods, the 4 into 1 Delkevic or the NOS Moriwaki pipe I have in a box in the garage might suit the build better. ;D

I WANT THAT TANK AND BODYWORK !! I just brought my Z1B home after pulling it out of storage to get some ride time and keep it alive. Not very purdy but runs great  :D
Note- That little short 4 to 1 header running out the 'wrong' side makes quite the racket. Cops can hear me coming or leaving. Makes me nervous to open it up  ;D

Saw where Ford is selling the Australian police an SSP ...Mustang based interceptor.  So, careful out there riding at warp speeds.

Beautiful car David, I wouldn't bother trying to outrun it, I'd rather pay the fine, or do the time, depending on how much over the limit I'm doing........ ;D

Well I've changed my favourite ride route after copping a speeding fine on ANZAC Day David, from a mobile camera car out in the middle of nowhere, doing a mighty 7KPH (4.5 MPH) over the limit on a downhill stretch of road, on my Harley Sportster. They purposely dropped the speed limit 20 KPH to piss motorcycle riders off a few years ago, as it's a brilliant ribbon of fast sweeping bends, with a couple of tight corners to keep you awake.

ANZAC Day commemorates the landing on the beach of Gallipoli on the 25th of April 1915 by Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) troops. My paternal Grandfather was one of them, who by God's grace (or Buddha, Allah, Jehova or The Great Pumpkin) survived the war along with his little brother, who enlisted at age 14 and was barely old enough to join at wars end. They both signed up again for WW2 but were too old and injured for active service, so were employed as "Training Sergeants" in regional depots to train kids to march and do rifle drill before being sent off to fight all over the world.

ANZAC Day this year was different from every other, as Covid-19 stopped the usual physical commemoration ceremonies and parades around the country, so as the weather wasn't horrible, I took my Harley Sportster for a ride, to enjoy the day and think about the fellers I've worked with over my last 43 years in uniform. Many have left their mortal coil due to old age, poor health, alcohol, accidents or losing the battle with their inner demons.

As much as I'd hate to plead that it is manifestly unjust to book an old digger on ANZAC Day for a pitiful 4.5 MPH over the limit (reduced to 2.8 MPH as per the infringement notice) I do have form. I lost my license for speeding on ANZAC Day in 1981 (the second time I'd lost my license in 2 years) so I didn't bother to fight the good fight, I paid the fun tax, and have found another lovely route without such restrictive speed limits, so hopefully, if the weather isn't too disgusting tomorrow, I'll be taking the Sporty for a quick 100 miler to notch up 100(+) mile ride #10. It's Monday tomorrow in the wonderful land of Oz, but some old queen is celebrating her birthday, so everyone gets a day off.

As a descendant of Irish Rebels brought to Oz in chains I don't have a great deal of time for the royal family, but a day off, is a day off.
Hopefully, I won't get another fcuking fine.....;D

No kidding ekpent, hate to see what a ticket for really speeding would cost.

Thanks Guys, and I've just played that vid Eric, and you're right, I can't get it out of my head! Coincidentally today is the 43rd anniversary of my enlisting in the Army on the 8th of June, 1977. That's not what's coincidental, but rather, I currently work in the project office in the Australian Defence Force that looks after radar equipment, from RBS-70 missile launchers, to the LSMD's (Laser Speed Measuring Device) that our Military Police use.

I had one of the discontinued detectors in my office that still worked, so pointed it out the window of my 1st floor office, and was amazed at how many cars were speeding in the street below. Not by much, but enough to hurt. Bear in mind that the Aussie dollar took a crap during CV-19 so it's only a bit less than 2/3 of the USD, but yep, $207 sucks balls. I'm "umming and ah-ing" about spending $132 for a new el cheapo air compressor to go under the workbench in the sheltered workshop, and I could have bought a much better one for $207. Oh well, them's the breaks.

Now none of my threads would be complete without a cat pic. Leo, that fat poofter of a cat pissed on my bed the other night, so the wife threw out the doona and bought a new one. I needed something to keep the dirt offa my 1428 engine build, so I rescued it from the wheely bin. I walked out this morning to go on my 10th 100(+) miler and here's Leo snoozing on my engine, in the doona. Obviously he felt comfortable in the stench of his own piss, although I think the wife might have washed it before she'd decided to throw it out. Regardless, he was looking pretty guilty when I caught him this morning.

Queens Birthday Ride 2020 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

After driving across town to pick up a set of Honda CB750K1 engine cases that I bought on FB, I spent yesterday re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic in the sheltered workshop, and was quite proud of the end result. Anyone who'd ever played "Tetrus" on their mobile phones would be proud of me too, as I was able to cram more crap into the same space.

My son bought me a big (for me) fancy tool box a few years ago and I'd never opened the box until yesterday, but it has already proved really useful to store not just my plethora of loose tools, but also some tool kits, my JIS screwdrivers, etc etc. I didn't actually get any bike work done, but when I get stuck into the engine build tomorrow after work, it'll be a lot easier. ;D

And having organised tool containment devices right beside where you need them does make life a whole lot easier, all you have to do is remember to put them back when you've finished

Thanks Spotty, and when you do, I've got a few spare bottles of GB to pass your way. You'll probably like it more than I, while it's got the requisite fizz it's a bit light on for sweetness, so if there isn't already a Ginger Bitter, I've just invented it. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely drinkable, just not my favourite. I've got another batch bubbling away in the background that I'll be bottling on Friday or Saturday, hopefully it'll be more to my taste, or you might end up with another 50 bottles.......... ;D

I'm not sure mate, but I do experience some anxiety when stocks start to get low, so when I was down to my last 40 bottles, (20 litres) I quickly made another batch. It is a money saver though, it costs me under $100 (AUD) to make a batch of around 28 litres, as opposed to buying "Ginger Joe" @ $8.00 per 500 ml bottle. ($448 for 28 litres) ;D

Fcuking hell Ken, how did she even summon up the courage to ask? Does she not understand the ramifications of such a brazen request? I guess she's lucky she's a daughter and not a son, lest she receive a well deserved clip under the ear for such an impertinence? ;D

I found it hard to keep a straight face actually.

Just spent half an hour tidying up my shed after seeing yours.
I probably should put the empty cans away as soon as I drink them. Even found an unopened one in a holder.
A bit like when I use to light up a smoke, only to find one burning away in another ashtray.

Anyway ,back to your kwaka build.

Well I was going thru a box of crap today looking for my 'proof of previous registration' for my Yamaha FJR1300 so I can get it re-registered after a 4 year lay off (4 years to the day almost, the registration expired on the 15th of June 2016, and it'll be re-registered on the 17th of June 2020) and I found some old pics, which almost brought a tear to an old man's eye. (mine, I'm really old)

Here's my 1976 Z900 (KZ900 in the US) which was actually built in 1975, but as such, it wasn't a Z1-B. I probably took this pic when I bought it in mid 1985, as I rode my 1981 Yamaha XT500 to Bathurst in April 1985. I'd sold my first K1 in 1984 to buy a 1975 Goldwing, which was a mistake, it was fcuked, and ate money, with little result. I think my old Bevel Drive Ducati 900SS was more reliable......

Terry's Z900 1986 4 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

The 900 was a great bike though, it had belonged to a Navy guy who'd bought it new, but didn't get much chance to ride it, as he was at sea for a long time. He'd had a pet Cockatoo who'd eaten the seat cover and half the foam, and the original pipes had rotted off it, so the bike shop, Melbourne Motorcycles, had replaced them with one of their "in house" 4 into 2 systems (that were hanging in the rafters from back in the 70's when they were "Sonic Choppers") and had the seat recovered. It had a whopping 8000 Km (5000 miles) when I bought it for $1600 (you could add another zero now, for a really good one) and sold it for the same amount in 1987. (albeit with twice the mileage, new progressive fork springs and air caps, Marzocchi Strada rear shocks, Pirelli Phantom tyres, and Yamaha LC350 handlebars) It was a great bike and I only sold it because I wanted to buy a 1985 "Iron Head" Harley Sportster, and the Harley shop didn't trade Jap bikes.

Here's my faithful(ish) hound, Ben, who guarded all my bikes when I lived in that Army house, as I had a carport, but no lockable garage. He must have done a good job, because the Army house was in a pretty rough neighbourhood but nothing ever got stolen. It didn't hurt that all my Army neighbours had big dogs too. I say "Faithfull(ish)" because he did take off a couple of times to chase some tail with a pack of strays, but we always got him back. He lived to the ripe old age of 15, and has been resting in my mother in laws garden since 1997. The saddest part of getting old is remembering all those you loved, who've left you behind.

I still had my Yamaha XT500, and like a dick, I sold it after I bought the 900. Like the 900 and my Sportster and pretty much every bike since, I kick myself for selling them, but back then I needed to sell one bike to raise the money for the next. Maybe old age isn't so bad in that regard? I'd love to have another one, but I probably couldn't kick start it with the same gusto that I could in my 20's. Maybe I'll buy one anyway, and just look at it........ ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)
