Joe....Call Autobox Logistics at 630.418.7311.  We recently used them for two classic cars that my good fiend bought for his collection, a '73 Challenger and a '58 Corvette.   Spend a little extra money and get enclosed shipping, dont risk open trailer.
Expect to pay around $1100, worth it.

PS.  Call Hagerty to get classic car insurance.  Get agreed value, which should be higher than what you paid for the car.  PM me if you need help to determine that value.

Good luck!

The last '70 GP I had I flew out to New Jersey, the previous owner met me at the airport and after we went to his house and chatted for a bit, I hopped in the car and drove it back to Indiana.

It was a challenge driving on unfamiliar highways with no GPS in a car that I hadn't owned one like it since I was 19. It had been so long since I had owned my first one that I had forgotten how the climate controls were arranged on the dash so here I was driving at night, trying to keep my eyes on the road while my right hand was trying to figure out the dash.

If you put a post on Uship.com, you can get multiple quotes back from shippers. It works quite well. Ultimately went through a logistics guy I know to get two cars across the country, but the quotes through Uship were  competitive and from reputable insured shippers. Costs nothing and you don't have to commit unless you want to.

I've used uhip.com several times, for both cars and bikes, they are based here in Austin.

However, I've become dissatisfied with them, seems all bids come from brokers, I prefer to deal with owner-operators.  Brokers will book your shipment, then try to find a driver on the central dispatch system, this can delay pickup of your vehicle a week or two or even cancel if they cant find a truck.

It is an interesting concept though, it's a reverse auction, the bids come in high and then brokers/drivers bid lower to get the shipment.

Hey Joe here is another Joe based out of Georgia. Very nice guy and has hauled bikes from my place in Michigan to California and for another big seller here in Mi also. Right in his neck of the woods. Might be worth getting a quote while your shopping. I have never had a contract with him as the buyer in CA pays for his haul. Enjoy the new car.  Eric
