Tach help
«
on:

I bought this bike with the table cable broke off at the motor. I found a thread similar from 2011 on here but didn’t have the full answer I needed. Could someone help find the part I need(new tach cable in mail right now). I attached a picture but it looks like I should have a metal tab that connects the cable to motor.

Forgot to add one more picture. Is the screw the only thing that hold the tach cable in or should a bracket go on the tach cable ? The broken piece comes right out

Here's the image from a fiche, part # 19, the tach gear cap:
https://images.cmsnl.com/img/partslists/honda-cb550-k1-four-1975-usa-cylinderhead_bighu0038e4001_1a39.gif
There's a screw in the cap that holds the end of the cable in place.

Ouch! $125 ebay 99€ at CMSNL
Sounds like a vulnerable part when changing #3 sparkplug.
It looks like the tach cable fits in to the broken piece.

$125 is insane for that part. That being said, they do break. If you want to wait on it I bet I could scrounge one next time I am back in Phoenix, although that won't be until August most likely.

Thanks everyone for the help! At that price I might be able to buy a used motor and get it that way. I will give that place a call! I called them before to try and get carbs. Unfortunately took it for a test drive tonight after getting the new front end on and bike took a sh$& on me and now I’m back to tearing her apart.

Again want to say thanks I’ve been searching in google for it and could not find the thing outside of a parts breakout picture that didn’t have names tied to it. I might wait for my tach cable to come in and see if I can fab something up using the piece. I have to get by for now. Heck might new to get a mold and make them and sell them at 70 a piece 🤣

It's a $30-50 part, at most. One will come up I imagine.
