Topic: Noisy Engine

Guys:

I'm probably just paranoid, but.....

Last week I bit the bullet to fix my oil leaks around the CAM cover.

I got 10 or so new copper washers, and a helicoil kit to fix a stripped bolt.  Everything went well, except of course the fact that I stripped another bolt torqueing them down.  My torque wrench is in inch-lb units and designed for small bolts.

I swear, if I had the cam cover out again I'd helicoil all of them.  It wasn't designed for proper thread depth using cast aluminum.

Anyway, I readjusted the valves as usual, using the go/no-go system I read about here -- I'm getting good at it now.

Then I fired it up.  Ran good warming it up, but I have to admit when I slowed the idle down it sounded a bit noisy to me, valve-train wise.

What do you think?  Am I just worrying again?  I didn't readjust CAM chain because I didn't loosen it.  The engine only has about 1500 miles on it since rebuild finished a month ago.

If you used a new Cam chain during your rebuild, now is the time to adjust it. A new chain will stretch some.

I didn't use a new chain, but tonight I'll do it again just to make sure.

Yeah All, it's fine.

I did have two breakdowns today though.  And I was supposed to work today.

Wow, you must have a fragile mind. Are the pills the doctor gave you helping with the breakdowns?
