CycleX Twin Mikuni Setup..No Stock Frame??

CycleX's website say these won't fit stock frame, anyone know why or have these and made the necessary modifications?

The only guy I knew that had them was on a chopper frame and he always had starting problems. I don't know if it was the carbs or some other problem but as I remember it he always blamed those damn Mikuni's!

Thanks for the heads up, I'm looking for a carb upgrade but without sacrificing daily usability.  Wonder how many people save up money just to be disappointed...for example Yoshi carbs that cost 3500$ shipped to the US may have the same issues.

The twin carb Mikuni setup is not really a performance upgrade.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

To be honest , I don't understand how these even have many sales .
 They don't look that good on a chopper, they won't eliminate a lot of problems,
 They will never hold their  synch to each other likev71 thru 78 750 carbs..
 Put your money towards Webers , if you can find a manifold..
 
 Are these pumpers if not ..even worse

Have you tried the Mikunis?  For $350 on eBay I thought I’d at least ask to get feedback from people who have experience.

If you’ve had experience with Mikunis and DCOE 40s how do they compare?

Weber’s are the dream, not gonna lie. The cheapest I’ve found on eBay after a few months of searching is 200 each in various stages of decay, jetting or being knock offs.  With cleaning, various components for testing and rebuild kits the reality is closer to 500-600$.

I have not tired the Mikunis but have ran webers.
 New Webers are around 400 each. I am surprised no one is fabricating or casting manifolds.
I think a Weber set will hold their value better than the dual Mikuni,s

Stock K1-K6 carbs look OK. Chromed pods or custom airbox fine on most types of builds.

Custom carbs have not only good sides. My modified K6 has Mikuni TMR32 flat slide carbs with very quick throttle response at acceleration as well as deceleration.
It is not that comfortable when I'm in the mood for cruising around.

Then I take my almost stock CB750 K2. Carbs have a looooong twist to WOT. So relaxing :D

I believe one of their tech articles explains that there isn't enough space between the head and stock frame to accommodate the combined length of the manifold and the carb on their conversion.  Chopper frames normally have a lot of space behind the head.

Most choppers are single rail or top tube from head stock to seat area.
 On the stock frame the 2 extra rails are in the way , unless you cut them out.

Scunny, how did you happen to own a Lynx Weber manifold for a 750? I thought you were a 650 guy? ;)
The price does seem a bit high; a similar part might be able to be water-jet for much less than the cost of a cast part?

That price is AU dollars, so without checking the latest exchange rate I would guess it's around $300 USD.

Finnigan, just what are you trying to do? Is this a high performance application, with a big bore and hot camshaft? Ported head? Like I said before, the cyclex system is not for performance. It's a big leap from that system to Webers. ;) The stock carbs are capable of decent performance, within certain limits.

Still researching, plan is stick to big bore kit, cam, carbs, and exhaust.  I still have a lot of questions and potential concerns the biggest being cost to actual performance.  This is a project for fun, not for racing or competition of any kind.

Carbs can be done after all other parts and work are done as long as a set of stock carbs are available. Stock carbs work fine with 836, ported head and cam to get closer to 80whp.

The answer here seems not to be what TS asked for, more what he need and has use for.  As so often on these forums.
That is soon revealed thanks to enthusiastic and experienced CB guys! ;)
