Got the forks all disassembled and clean ready for rebuild.
Once they are back together I ll clean and polish the lowers and clean and polish as best as I can the forks tubes. They got some heavy rust and pittin on the top but it should not  affect anything and the fork cover will cover it up.
Hope to have them back together this weekend still waiting on the copper washers and piston rings for the lower pipes.
One of the fork came apart very easily the other one was a bit of a pain, the alen bolt kept spinning the lower pipe inside the fork. I tried everything I could read online, left the spring in to create tension, used an impact with no lock, soaked in wd40 but nothing. I went down to the hardware store picked up a 1/2 in steel round cut a small slit at one end and was able to hold the pipe in place wile undo the bolt, worked great.

More polished parts, I got a lot done this weekend. Mainly just polished, cleaned, and painted parts but that’s all part of the project, hopefully this week I get to start put some of back together.

Great work, I'm enjoying the pics, am behind you a bit on my '73 but making progress. I am pretty much doing everything you are, not quite as fast though, you are plowing through that and it's looking fantastic.

Spent a bit of time in the garage after work tonight.
I figure I ll work on the handlebars. Removed the old switch and grips and cleaned it up an polished a bit.
I ll be installing a new set of grips, switches, levers, mirrors, and probably a new master cylinder.
I actually already have a new right hand switch that I have purchased last year to use on my cx before I decided to install a Munit, so I ll be ordering the left hand switch along a new set of grips this weekend.

New fork cap came in, I have been trying to clean all the original parts but unfortunately the original cap are way too pitted for me to clean and look good.

Ok I’m done for today
Got the forks, front fender, cluster, and front turn signals installed.
Forks still need oil I have to go buy a measuring cup or something lol.
And cleaned handlebars clamp.
Next on the to do list
Install chain guard, headlight bucket so I can start to rearrange the wire back in there
Need to get on the lathe and make the spacers for the rear shocks so I can get those installed along with the fender and rail with the turn signals.
Ordered new left hand switch along with a new clutch lever so as soon as they come in I ll install the switches on the bar and get that installed.
And install new cables

I’m now waiting on the left hand switch to come in so I can install the handlebars.
Now I really need to work on the spacer for the shocks so I can get the rear end sorted out

A bit more progress this weekend.
Got the front end pretty much done, only thing left it’s to install clutch lever, brake system, and get some grips and mirrors.
Got her out of the garage and fired her up for a few minutes, a bit loud without exhaust lol.
Still to do: got to make spacers for the shocks so those can go on along with the chain guard, rear fender, and rear rail.
Got to clean seat and inside of the tank.
Got to paint the foot pegs.
Got to install air box with new filter.
And look for an exhaust system, but I think did find a company that makes a 4-4 so hopefully that will work.

Today I finally had time to go to my buddies shop to make the spacers for the shock, I don’t have a lathe but he has a full mechanic shop so he lets me barrow lol
Got the 4 top spacers made for the top  and for the bottom mounting point I just used the washers that came with the shock, I think they were designed to use at the top to keep the rubber compress.
Now I can finally get the chain guard on and the rear fender with the rail.
Ps I’m goin to have to unbolt the bottom left shock to install the guard should have had put it on before the shock lol

Another productive weekend in the garage, the rear end it’s pretty much completed.
Rear fender, rail, and chain guards it’s on. I worked on the seat today got it washed and painted the underside, it still had the original owner manual in it. Foot pegs are painted and ready to be put together. The air box it’s clean and ready for a new filter. I cleaned the brake caliper now it’s ready to be painted and rebuild.
Ordered everything that I need besides the exhaust to get her back on the road.
Wile I wait for the parts to come in I’m going to clean the inside of the tank and install the new petcock, I’m going to paint the caliper, put together the seat and the pegs.

An almost new bike is reborn!
Even if chain look good with that few miles, it is most likely an old fragile type. The cracking case type ;)
Modern chains are stronger.

Thank you PeWe!!
I did install a new chain, the old one was way too rusted and stiff to be trusted.

I usually don’t get the time to work in the garage nor post during the week, but today had a few hours to spare so I decided to install the seat and foot pegs. I was going to wait till the weekend to post but I’m kind of excited to see this rear end almost done. Only things left its the air box and side cover.

Finally all the parts came in. Got everything to rebuild the front brake system. Now I do have a question hopefully someone can help, been googoling the part but nothing comes up. I have noticed that the new brake pads don’t have the little screw on the side, I tossed the old one one so can use the one off that , but really not sure what that bolt or screw not really sure what to call it does. If anyone can assist it would be great. I could look for a new one but not sure what size I need

The bolt/ screw that goes directly into the pad to be more exact, what does it do and what size I need?
Thanks for the help sorry for the confusion
