working on this bike for a friend.
hadn't been started for years. built carbs acts like the brand new needle valve is too tall almost.
it has a plastic float thats non adjustable. i can let the float down gently and get fuel. Alas it seems to be down slightly more than the bowl allows, as for as soon as i put the bowl on no fuel gets through.
the old valve worked but wouldn't seal....

It does sound as tho the new needle is too long.
How does the needle seat look/ I have had success with cleaning them up with a q tip and cutting compound. Might stop the old one leaking.

i cleaned it but I'll reclean it.
Definitely hoping that's not the case but I have ordered two for the bike I always order the small valves in twos and they came from a different supplier each but both have had the same issue. But I recently read that the cm250c shares most of its parts with a regular Rebel but it has a different carburetor so I'm wondering if the needle valves I ordered were wrong for the bike.

Be sure the old sealing washer came out with the old seat, A stacked pair can cause a lower float level. Just a thought. The aftermarket float valves on my F1 worked well but were taller, I could adjust those float tabs though.

Are these oem parts? Some aftermarket float needles vary in length, it's a pretty well documented issue on the twins site.

83 CM250C shared float needles with tons of other bikes, click here and scroll down for Related Fitment:

Checked with the rebel forum fellows.
The common knowledge over there was aftermarket vavles are very hit and miss. about 1.5mm is the tolerance. so .75.. either way and it doesnt open or gas over flows.
ordered some OEM Honda parts. wanting on a new vavle amd float to come in.

New Honda float and needle valve...
Same issue. after alot of frustration the bike runs flawlessly.... if i fill the bowl with the overflow tube.
Actually its headed back home not riding.
I'm sure at this point it needs a carb.
I've brought home and sent 2 back home running perfect with this one on my lift.
Hate that I didnt figure it out but its taking up space and the owner wants it done at a dealer now I think.
