1975 CB750K restoration

Hello all:

I was advised by a fellow member to post my project.

Just acquired a 1975 Honda CB750K that had not been ridden in years. I think it still has the factory tires on it. They are as hard as a rock though.

The forks are long and it was missing the fork ears, the front signal lights, fork boots and other stuff to bring the front forks back to stock

Ordered some proper forks from Yamiya that arrived today. Woo hoo

Bike is now stripped down to the bare frame. All black parts and frame are going to the powder coater place this week.

Most of the chrome parts were pitted and as such they are at the chrome place getting stripped, polished and re-chrome plated again. (Want this baby to shine)

Wheel rims and spokes were badly pitted so new rims and "chrome" spokes are going back on the hubs. (once I polish them up.)

Front master cylinder has been rebuilt already by me.

Handlebars were not correct so I bought an aftermarket set as so far I was not able to find an original set.

The carbs are all out and my daughter helped me lift the engine out. The bike was running but it needs a tune up. I have broken down the carbs and all the bits are in separate containers ready to go into the ultrasonic cleaner when the time comes for that.

For the engine. I am just going to clean the outside as minty as I can get it and then polish up the parts to make it look nice.

Hope I have not missed anything.

Unfortunately on a sad note. The tachometer is not correct for a CB750K bike so if you have a nice one hanging around please let me know. It has a ratio of 1000 rpm = 3000 rpm instead of the 1-4 ratio.

Also speedometer on the bike is off a CB550K bike so that is going to have to be replaced as well.  The speedometer has a mileage of 5700 miles on it though. Who knows the story behind that. I don't think the bike has many miles on it as the bearings are great, the fork ball bearings have no sign of wear to them. Everything indicates a low mileage bike.

The mufflers all have holes in them so I will be ordering a set from yamiya when they are back in stock

All I need right now are the proper gauges and a set of fork ears, and a new set of mirrors and I think I have all the parts to rebuild

Anyway. I will keep you posted on my progress as I move along with it
