'75 CB400F wiring routing and a couple miscellaneous questions
« on: December 13, 2020, 07:24:00 PM »
Hello everyone.  I've been making some good progress the last couple weeks.  I'm getting ready to start assembling the rear of the bike and have a few questions:

What is the proper size fuel line?  Is it the 3/16th's inch?  I got some grey Motion Pro stuff from my local dealer, but it is way too big.

Anyone have experience with the 4into1 repro seat?  I picked one up and have noticed the rubber bumper at the back of the seat that rests on the fender loop is about 3X the thickness of the old one and it is making the seat sit higher with a big gap at the rear.  Anyone know what the normal gap is between the seat and fender, and if you experienced the same thing with the 4into1 seat, what did you do to fix it?

Below are some pics of the main wiring harness and two smaller harnesses that plug into it.  Are the two smaller harnesses supposed to go over the frame like in the picture, or are they supposed to route similar to the main harness?

Thanks for your time and help.

Fuel pipe needs to be 5.5mm to fit right
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

According to the shop manual, the harnesses should hug the front yoke a bit more and should be routed using the clamp on the LH tank rubber. But quite a few of the bikes have them routed like yours.

Thank you, Alaxy!  That's exactly what I am looking for and more.  I really appreciate it.

BTW - what manual is that from on classiccycles?  I have looked through several and haven't seen that page.

Again, thank you very much!

You're welcome!

Actually, it's one of the last pages from the official Honda Service Manual for the CB350F-CB400F.  Specifically, it's part of the CB400F supplement which can be found here on the forums:

http://manuals.sohc4.net/cb400/

For a CB400F, the manual should be read/printed in this order:

Part1, Part2, CB400F Supplement.

Glad I could help!
