Giuliari Seat Questions
« on: December 27, 2020, 11:59:00 AM »
I was searching Craigslist for CB750 parts and came across this seat in a pile of parts for 70s UJMs.  I recognized the shape as a Giuliari seat and did some research on the seat pan.  The pan is exactly the same as a picture of an NOS Giuliari seat at forum member Ricky Racer's website, Classic Cycle City.  The shape and trim looks correct for a Giuliari seat but the cover didn't match the pictures I found online.  The seat was located about 4 hours away from me, so I made an offer and he accepted.  He even offered to ship it for a decent price.  It just arrived today.  I have some thoughts and questions:

1. The seat is old.  It wasn't made recently and I would bet it is from the 70s or 80s.
2. The cover looks like it was made for this seat pan only.  It does not look like a cover off something else and modified.
3. The trim and rubber bumpers are the same as on the real Giuliari seats.
4. I have seen this exact seat on a Japauto bike online.  It has the same cover pattern and white Honda on the hump.
5. What is this seat?  To me it looks like a Giuliari seat based on the pan, shape, trim, and age but it isn't branded and the cover is different from other known Giuliari seats.
6. Anyone have any information on this seat.  My guess is it was either made by Giuliari after they stopped stocking CB750 seats or someone bought the surplus seat pans from Giuliari and made their own seats for the CB750.

Looks like the real deal to me. Why do you think it isn’t?

The pattern of the cover doesn't match the known Giuliari seats and there is no branding on the pan or cover.  Some Giuliari seats have a styled "by Giuliari" screened below the Honda logo on the hump.  Others have a tag that says G.G. Giuliari sewn into one of the seams.  This seat has none of those.

I think it's older and European but I would like to know if it is a genuine Giuliari seat or if these were copies made by another seat maker?

Thanks
Scott

Mine.  Made 1980.  Made for early(and mid?) cb750 k models.  Fits on my 69-71s perfectly.  That one is the same type.

My stencils were rubbed of, not uncommon.  The shadow is still there under light.  Pretty sure my cover is original though.  It matches my cb500 seat exactly in waffle design.

There were more than one correct Giuliani seat cover.  Bill Benton has one with a different cover that has a special tag sewn in the hump seam.

The decal on the bottom certainly says Giuliani.
