Hello to all, got a 1978 CB750K8 for real good price, thing is very rough and motor is locked up but actually believe it to be the transmission so have to get into it. One thing that I am interested in is the Gordon Frame kit as I don't have anyone around to help pull motor. Bike is in my house and I am stripping it down and getting rid of the rusted parts. Not in a hurry to finish it and have built bikes before, although first Honda in 40 years. Another question is that if I decide to put a new used motor in it, what years will fit, what won't. Thanks for having me

 CB 75 motors from 69 to 78 should all fit.

Welcome..... your bike uses a larger chain and sprockets than the earlier bike, and a 17” rear wheel. As long as you keep using the ‘77 drive sprocket and the rear wheel drive hub, you should be able to use any year SOHC CB750 motor. Lots written here on the topic. I run an 18” rim on one of mine, works just fine.
