Zinc!?
« on: January 14, 2021, 12:01:31 pm »
I remember reading on here that is a good idea to use zinc but I had forgot. Recently the local auto store started carrying the “zddp” so I bought some. Question is how much should I to put in a 1980 cb650 running 20w-50?

Thanks

The bottle I had said the amount to put per liter or quart. Check the label on the back.

But before you do that, make sure the product you have is the one for wet clutches. At the time I bought mine(been a while), there were 2 versions, one that specifically said, "not for use in wet clutches" or something to that effect.

Cheers

Some additives contains antifriction stuff too. Not good for wet clutches.
In a car no problem.

There are several recent threads about motorcycle oils that have more zinc och phosphorous. Just search with any search engine. Sohc forums + ........

Not for the modern bikes with Catalytic converters that use oils with less.
