I am 6 months from being 70. The only time I wished I was a little older. I am currently in St Thomas, USVI. This is a safe place to be. As of yesterday there were only 75+ active COVID cases across all 4 islands. I had been searching for the vaccine and have put my name on 4 or 5 lists both here and back in Colorado. I was given a phone number to call. I had no clue who this was. A PEDIATRIC office! "March 12. Wait, March 6th, hold on a moment. Can you come in the morning at 9:30? We have a cancellation". OF COURSE! I received my first dose of Moderna vaccine Tuesday and was given my return appointment for February 23. Disclaimer: I am not a big vaccer. After working as a retail Pharmacist for 38 years and exposed to flu every season I had never had a flu shot and never gotten a case of flu. This, COVID, by all means. Not so much as to protect myself but yes and to keep from spreading it should I become positive and not know it. Just doing my part folks!

Side effect: sore arm at the injection site. Mild on the first day. Worse yesterday. Better today. That's all! It's safe. That's coming from both a personal experience level and a professional level. Wasn't sure if it was the stick that created the next day pain but it flared the next day which tells me that the vaccine immune response is kicking in also.

I implore anyone that when they have the opportunity to get the FREE vaccine to do your part to put an end to this.

My 93 year old mom got the vaccine about a week ago; her only side effect was a sore arm the next day, same as when she gets a flu shot.
My neighbor Clare is wishing he had gotten the vaccine right now, as he's been sick for a week, after being exposed to a visitor who later tested positive. :(

My wife got it about  13 days ago...
She says her and a few  others felt a bit crappy  for a few days.,  fine now I think.  Pretty sure it was Pfizer that has a follow up shot.,

I'm 38 years old, no medical problems. I do not usually seek to get vaccines. I do not get the Flu shot, I figure I am exposed to most of what is going around each year at work (Fire Dept.) We were offered the shot through my work. I got my 1st dose of the Moderna vaccine 1/6/21, I am scheduled for my 2nd dose on 2/5/21. The only symptom I had was soreness at the injection site (shoulder) for a couple days. I'd say more so than other IM injections that I have had in the past. Nothing else. From the research I have done and my personal experience, I see no downside.

Wife got Moderna on 1/28. Said it hurt when injected and a little pain in the arm today but not bad. Had some cold chills last night but not sure if related as this is Michigan winter  :D  So far so good.

Hi everyone, my mom is a nurse, an RN for Henry Ford hospital, she just got her second injection, she experienced symptoms like soreness at the shot area, chills, body aches, fever, the symptoms will come on suddenly and randomly. If you have access to the vaccine please get it. I Have 2 more aunts who are RN's who've all received both rounds of theirs as well.

I am a 67YO person with some health issues so I was 1C and able to get my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine yesterday afternoon.

UNC healthcare ran the clinic.   Well run, in and out in less than an 45minutes including the 15 minute wait after the shot.

Barely felt the shot, arm is just a little sore today.

Second shot on 17FEB21, I hope to gain a little freedom by March.

My wife's doctor saved her a dose when she had a regular appointment coming up. I haven't been able to get one yet. The when and where seems to be by word of mouth. Farm bureau and two grocery chains got some, it was difficult to find info before it was used up.
 Her side effects were minimal.

Day 4.  Arm soreness was worse for only 1 day then subsided. No pain today. No other side effects/symptoms. Small price to pay to protect myself and protect others from me.

For those of you looking in and are on the fence or are just opposed - GET YOUR SHOT ASAP. If you feel you are impervious to this for whatever reason have some compassion for others. Do your part to help put a stop to all the carnage.

Day 7: Back to normal. No issues between days 4 and 7.

Awaiting my follow up dose 2 appt 2/23. Everything I hear from others may be anecdotal vs personal experience so I must keep this in mind. Plus not all reactions are equal. It is said the 2nd dose hits you harder.

My daughter has a nurse friend who has been doing the shots. She thinks the second dose reacts a little more because your body has seen it before, so it reacts to the shot a little more. Nothing severe though.
If you have had the virus your first shot may react a little more for the same reason.
Our area is out of vaccine for now. No info or waiting list as far as I can tell. My wife didn't even get the sore arm.

My dad and a couple brothers have had the first round of the vaccine, with no side effects.  My sister has had both, with no side effects -- she's a nurse, so was prioritized. My mother in the UK has had the first shot, but there, from what I understand, they are taking a different aproach: getting everyone the first shot before giving people the second, as opposed to getting groups both shots before moving on to less prioritized groups. There are pros and cons to both approaches, I suppose. I have friends in AZ that have received both with no side effects. I'm eligible in AZ because I continue to teach at a university there, but I'm not taking the chance to travel to get it.

Here in Mexico there is not much information. Front line workers are supposed to be prioritized, but our Dr. hasn't received it yet. Both the president and (former richest man in the world) Carlos Slim have it. We've had friends get sick and lost a few. My former secretary lost her mother and step-father one day, her father the next day (not covid), and a brother the following day. She is also currently sick with C19. We just became the third worst country affected, after the USA and Brazil.

Stay safe, folks.

I've spent hours online filling out forms only to find nothing available at the end. Pharmacies, Health dept, vaccine events etc.

I understand this to be the case in some areas. My dad filled out an online form, found out there were no available appts, then filled it out again with the same result, a few times. He finally went to his Dr, and a nurse helped him get an appt. He's been a little flustered and thought he had to make a second appointment online, but since he's got the first he's automatically set up for the second. This wasn't made clear to him (or he forgot).

I read today, however, that some pharmacy chains will start to offer the vaccine. Hopefully the rollout will pick up steam.

Got my first dose of Moderna on Tuesday at the local hospital, and scheduled for dose2. No effects other than a very unusual triple flusher Wed pm. I shoveled 4” of snow from the drive and walk this morning.
It seems like whoever is holding the vaccine makes the guidelines. Some counties are ahead of others. Even though my Doc and Hospital are in the next county, they won’t let me sign up there. Some that have been offered refuse it.
I’m 67 with health issues =1b? 1c? I don’t know, just happy to have it. Front line medical workers got it, nursing homes got it, police/fire got it, teachers getting it now.
Maybe there is more vaccine in the pipeline now, a good thing.

Thanks for the updates Jerry. In addition to working around so many middle school students, I also have an immunodeficiency disease so I'm in line to get my first dose but I think I'm still several weeks out. I also cannot wait to get back to more normal circumstances. Not having all kids in school is horrible (we've been running about 50% capacity where kids come in person 2 days each week most of the year and I feel it's been safe) and I think education really looks different after all of this. The learning gaps across the board are significant and changes will need to be made to the curriculum because kids moving to the next grade will not have the knowledge base after this year. The other issue I foresee is the impact on education that retaining students will have on class sizes.

I got my 2nd dose of the Moderna vaccine yesterday, 24 hours ago. I was totally normal all day. Worked out, walked the dog, felt fine. After dinner time I got chills and noticeable body aches (my eyeballs hurt!) but nothing crazy. I woke up this morning with the same symptoms and a 100.5 fever. Hopefully it will be gone by the end of the day. Again, nothing causing me any concern.
