Stator neutral switch

Is this neutral switch ok to use, or is there something missing for the contact point?

Question about installation: Should the switch be closed(contacts touching) when the motorcycle is in neutral?

Thats just the static part and looks ok there is rotor on the selector drum which has acopper contact on it thatouches the contact finger when in neutral making a ground path

Thanks Bryan,

With your information I cleaned up the rotor and now I see how it works.  It was solid black before I cleaned it so couldn't figure out how the connection would be made.  Now it all makes sense.

A bit of the pip remains, hope it is enough to keep it in alignment.
