valve cover/tappet cover/rocker cover o ring
« on: February 21, 2021, 01:37:44 PM »
hi, does anyone have an idiot proof method for fitting the rocker cover o ring without inverting the engine?

I've yet to do anything other than test run and have oil seeping from under the cover.

I guess I trapped the o ring outside the channel

Thanks

Tried sticking it in with some grease?

If the gasket groove is totally clean, an OEM Honda gasket will hold itself in the little casting detents in the groove. You could use a bit of grease or even a couple tiny tiny dabs of super glue.

I wet the gasket with oil before install so the super glue method wouldn’t work. But really, a properly fitting gasket will hold itself if the groove is clean. I’ve never had any issues with these.

Thanks both for the suggestions.

I was super careful with the cleaning but have a leak in front of No.4 which runs across the head whilst on the side stand.

Drips nicely onto the alternator cover.

I'll give the suggestions a try.

Thanks
