Hello from The Netherlands.
I registered quite a while ago now, only read a bit but thought it's time to introduce myself here.
I'm Nick, 24 years old and a Cb four enthusiast. I currently own a cb400 four, a cb500k1, a cb750k2 and a GL1000 Ltd.
You could say I have a thing for vintage Honda's...
The 400 was my first classic bike, bought it in 2015 and rode it a lot, even through the Alps for a week long holiday in 2017.
In 2017 I ran across a first owner GL1000 Limited Edition, on my search for a regular GL1000. The Ltd is the holy grail so when I saw that I new I had to get that one or I would regret that for the rest of my life. So I bought it, as a non-runner, it was parked for about 15-20 years, and as it turned out the engine was completely shot. Every bearing and every part internally had to be replaced, so that turned out to be a money pit. Luckily after about a year it was all done and I got to enjoy it, taking it to The Dolomites and the Alps in July 2019.
The 750 k2 was always a dream bike for me, and I managed to buy one in September 2019. I bought this one from the second owner, who had it for less than 1 year. He planned to restore it, but for some reason decided to not even start it. I just cleaned it a bit, got it running and upgraded the tires brakes etc. The plan is to take that one for a trip to the Alps as well when Covid allows it again.
And to keep myself busy in the meantime I bought a cb500 k1 a couple of months ago. It now runs and has original paint again, just looking for some small bits and peaces to make it original and good-looking again. I don't like the restored bikes as much as I like the ones with a bit of patina, so I usually only use old parts to fix them up. None of my bikes have been restored.
