Mystery mostly solved, thanks. But, no, never had a 650. My 550 arrived with what looks to be a 650 fender, because it has a hole on the left side for the plastic cable guide, whereas on the 500\550 it's on the right for the speedo cable, but it still had the welded on hoop\bracket for the brake hose. These 650 bits must have been in the odds and sods that came with the 550, but 2 of them?
Anyway thanks for that, they can be forgotten about for now.

I used the front of a cb650 (wheel, brake, forks, triple and M/C) on my CB500/550 and it fit the same. I liked the 650 caliper better because it felt like it had more stopping power and it is held with two big ass bolts on the lower fork. The reason for two would be for dual disk maybe?

I talked to a guy that has restored several bikes to 100% stock but better.
I joked about finding one part and search for the rest.

He had found an engine cover really cheap so he fixed all the other parts. Maybe a 2-stroker or CB450.

When getting a number of spares, just find a frame with registration. My CB750 K2 was born that way. But it needed some new parts too.

Many years ago, there was a story in a classic car magazine of a car that was rebuilt from only its chassis plate; the car had been completely destroyed by fire . IIRC it was an Australian car called the Sabakat Special, Lotus based.

I'm sure that part goes in the front tank rubber locating tube 'C' portion  facing towards the front and  open end towards the frame It's.is a wiring loom/control cable guide.
