Topic: 77 cb550 damage from loose connecting rod

I have pulled apart the bottom end of my cb550 to replace the drive shaft.  One of the connecting rods was loose.  I have discovered that the drive shaft where the loose connecting rod was has shaved the pillar that the drive shaft sits on.  Only in the top of the crank case not in the bottom.  There is still plenty enough there for the bearing to sit on.  Should I worry about the shaved pillar?  I will try to include pictures later.

More important youwill need a new rod and crank as the end will have been hammering

I got a whole new crank set, drive shaft and connecting rods.  I can't post photos or I'd show you.

 Remember that metal was everywhere in the engine. Check the oil pump and flush out the oil passages.

You will likely need new crank and rod bearings... about 200 ish in parts....

So I got new crankshaft and connecting rods.  I talked to a local expert and was able to show him the damage.  He though it would be okay.  I cleaned the mess out of the engine block with scotchbrite, degreaser, cue tips, power washer.  Just plastiguaged all of the bearing journals.  It looks like all but one are good.  So I am waiting for friend who is out of town and owns a micrometer to get back so I can mic the crankshaft and try to determine which color bearing journals I need.  I think I need green or brown.  Slowly but surely it goes back together.
