There’s a thing you do with a thing to the thing and voila, the old steering lock tumbler comes out…

This one on a 75 cb750k

Thanks
I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.

Looks like the plastic cover is mostly gone already in the pic.

Well there’s the rub.  The pile o parts they is (finally) almost a motorcycle came with locks but no key.  I now have a matching key set for the new ignition switch and seat lock.  My favorite locksmith needs me to remove this before he will re-key it to match.

Huh? That simple low security lock should take less than a minute for a novice lockpicker to open with improvised tools. An expert with proper tools might do it faster than you could with the key.
I am no expert but I picked one easily for the same reason.

Looks like T1810 maybe? From a quick look on eBay that's within the range they came with. There are also a few good plastic covers there complete with the little swiveling lock cover and screw for ~$15USD.
