1967 Honda CL90 scrambler clutch

Anyone messed with the old CL90 's? I'm working on one right now and the clutch is giving me a head scratcher. The clutch wouldn't engage to let the bike go into neutral so I pulled the side cover off thinking the plates were just worn out but it was the opposite. The plates actually spec'd out slightly over the manuals highest "normal" spec.

I'm thinking because they are specing out over maybe its not leaving enough room to compress the clutch pack to disengage the drive train?

Anyone had something like this?

Do you mean the clutch is "stuck"? It often happens when a bike sits over a period of time. Provided it's properly adjusted, put the bike in the highest gear and rock the bike forward and backward with the lever pulled in; this will usually break the clutch loose.

I guess that may be the case. I'll find out once I get it back together, just thought it was strange all the plates were specing out oversized.

if youve had it apart the clutch aint siezed,go through the adjustment properly,if it has the old corkscrew on the left side mechanism they wear out and provide less "dis engagement"they move sideways before laterally wasting cable slack.

Honda practiced Kaizan or continuous improvement.  As such a lot of early parts will not work with later models.  A prime example is the S90 exhaust as the early exhaust pipe will not fit the head of the later S90s.  I wonder if the clutch pack is the same.
