Hi from Singapore
« on: February 26, 2007, 08:54:19 AM »
Hi All,

Just bought myself a '73 CB350F as a project bike. So far I've got as far as breaking it into a number of smaller pieces and sorting them into several piles; rebuild - replace - undecided.

Bought myself a few bits that I know I need and expect to be buying a lot more as I go.

I'm tending towards a mild cafe build - the seat that came with the bike doesn't fit properly, it is not for a 350F so I am looking for a replacement seat pan either to use or as a pattern for a fibreglass pan.

The rims are both shot, so am trying to decide whether to go with cheaper chrome stock type rims or go to excel or similar aluminium rims/ss spokes. Anyone how wide you can go on a 350 as far as tyres go? I am thinking probably 100/90-18 front and 110/80-18 on the back, if I go with the excel rims.

I've bought some z bars and plan on using 400F switches (since they are cheaper and easier to find). I need some new fork tubes, the originals are rusted and pitted - maybe I should go to 400F front end, any thoughts?

Basically, the biggest concerns are wheels, seat and forks at the moment, but I'm sure I'll have other problems as things progress.

Cheers,

Brett

Welcome to the group, look forward to some pics when you are able (and it's not in piles ;D). Good luck with the project.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Thanks guys. I've already found a lot of useful info on here while searching through previous posts and I'm sure there's a lot more to be sifted through.

Will get a photo up in a day or two, I took one before I started stripping the bike.

Cheers,

Brett

First welcome to the Club. You can try ebay and also post a Parts Wanted advertisement on this board.

Thanks for the welcome.

I've been hitting ebay and have won a few items, it is a veritable treasure trove. The parts wanted ad is a good idea, I'll do it right now.

Cheers,

Brett

Brett,

Welcome to SOHC4 Land. There is a guy from Singapore that lists NOS items on EBay. I follow 750 stuff so I'm not sure about your bike. There's been some interesting stuff lately. You should try to find this guy.

Good luck with your bike and enjoy.

Jerry
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Thanks,

Found him on ebay and have sent him a message. He has a set of rims which might suit by bike, so that may fix one of the current headaches.

Cheers,

Brett
