Topic: A good adhesive to reattach my old decal to the fuel tank ?

I have a decal I like to reattach to my fuel tank after painting the tank.What's a good chemical resistant adhesive that I can use to put to the back of the old decal ?

 3m double sided tape if it's a metal emblem. Auto parts stores have it. I've used it on bikes that have had the mount holes bondo'd over.

This one is a very nice OEM decal from another model(I just like it,it's not stock to this bike)that I've adapted to my tank and had on there for years.I was able to cleanly remove it and would like to put it back on.

Edit:Don,I like the 3M double-sided tape idea,possibly that's the strongest?

 The 3M tape I used has some depth to it. It works nicely in the recess on the back side of the cast Honda emblems. I do have some carpet tape that's very thin, would require some xacto knife work to trim around it.
  I've has some decals on the race car that I would have liked to keep but they always stretch.

I am considering some rubber contact cement,not sure if that'll work?

It'll work fine if you prep everything as per the instructions Bill, but the biggest concern for me would be a run, so you might have to lay the tank on its side and tape around the glued area to stop it running onto your paint, as the solvents in the glue could bubble your paint. For plastic/metal tank emblems, like Don, I use double sided tape from an auto parts store, not the crap from your local supermarket.

Try talking to a materials supplier like Substance Europe Ltd.. Talking to one a while back, some of the adhesive sheets from the likes of 3m which are sold as "laminates" are called that as they get the film and the glue part into stock separately- so the glue part is like double sided tape but without the tape.

screenprinter, print shop, sign printer, wrap shop should be able to exactly reproduce your sticker onto brand new sticker

 I took some decals off of the race trailer today. I used mild heat followed by 3m adhesive remover. I wondered as I read the can if I was actually removing 3m adhesive.
   It worked but came off either like a dry crust or snot.
  This really doesn't help but I was thinking some of it turned back into adhesive.

I'm going to install it with rubber contact cement,marine-grade.
