Topic: Source for camshaft repair?

Hey all,

I have an old Crane camshaft (HO-300) that is in great shape minus one of the lobes.  i talked to one place that does repairs on camshafts.  They mentioned that they thought it was cast iron, and would not be able to reliably repair it, which i appreciate their honesty.  Does anyone have a place that they know of that could repair this?  I have the specs on the cam as well, if that is needed.    I realize that it may not be cost efficient to repair it compared to a new cam, but i enjoy these older grinds that you can't get anymore.  I attached some pictures, and the first one shows the lobe that I think needs help.  it isn't in "terrible" shape, but looks like the surface is damaged enough it wouldn't be something I would want to run.

I know Webcam does repairs.  I’ e also heard of Delta doing this, but no firsthand knowledge.

This is wonderful stuff. I think I'm gonna call that delta place and  send a smoked cam and maybe some old rockers off to to them. I wonder how much their prices have gone up since 2014?

I have an update!

I talked to someone about this cam at Web Camshafts, and they said they would be happy to look at it.  I sent it to them and they didn't have this cam in their files, so they had it blueprinted and repaired it.  I also sent her the cam card for it, but she made the point that a lot of those older cams were not exactly what the cam cards said they were.  The turn around time was around 4 months, but I am assuming it took a little longer because of it being a new profile for them.  The cost was $300, which I was super happy with based on all the work they did.  I am also assuming that anyone could call and request this cam based on their grind number.  One thing she did mention before I sent it in was that they were not able to get cores, so I am assuming you would need to send a core in.

Yep, they did them all!  I agree, it really does look like new.
