Hey Steve,
We'll head out Wednesday the 23rd, 1500 miles, 3 days, hit the Red Iguana in SLC for lunch on Friday, then straight to the salt to setup pits.  Tech and registration on Saturday, racing starts Sunday.

Bonneville 2024. Nothing special to report yet but here again with the 71 cb500.  Will throw up a few pics.  Sequence of events, pit setup and registration Friday and Saturday, tech on Saturday, racing starts Sunday after the 8am drivers meeting.  Really windy Friday and Saturday alternating calm and serious wind.  So racing started a bit late Sunday as they put the course flags back out.

Rich, from your phone resize to 60% and they work pretty good. Also you can only select 1 picture then go back to the attachment thingies ( technical term) click more, then click the box again, then select the picture you want. The sad part is this site will only swallow 3 or 4 then post. If you want more click modify then go through the selection process again and click save. At least that is how I have to do it, hope that helps.

Okay, let's try again. Some pics. Pit setup on Friday evening, that popup canopy frame over my bike is now in the dumpster.  Line for Tech Inspection on Saturday when most of the racers arrive, setup, tech, fuel.  Sunday morning driving out to pits, first day of racing.  8am drivers meeting.

A few bikes.  The 750 sidecar rig.  68 CB160 built by Kiyo's Garage.  Google Kiyo's Garage if you haven't seen his work including his double 750 engine bike and his triple 750 engine bike, races them also.  This bike went 95mph.   oh oh, battery fading on computer.  Cyclecar (FIM, not AMA).  125cc entry from Japan, I think the guy in black is there just to polish it.

How was racing?  Never goes as planned.  But worked out.  Sunday 1st run with same setup from Texas Mile.  CB500, 18-34 gears, 105 mains.  Shifted to fourth and it just layed down, 8k rpm and dropping. 100mph.  Switched front sprocket to a 17.  Storm rolled in at 3pm and stopped racing and also semi-destroyed our popup canopy.  Monday morning very early out, cool weather actually, v little wind.  Shift to fifth, 9k rpm doesn't climb, in the middle of the measured mile I shift back to fourth, ran 112.  Record in Modified Classic Fuel 500 is 115+.  Go out again and just hold 4th, ran 118, qualify for a record return and run 117.  New record pending ratification.  Throw on the $49 fairing and go back out and run Modified Partial Streamline Classic Fuel.  REcord is 116+, same folks.  I run 122, record return is 119mph, another record average.  Two records on Monday in 4th gear.  continued below

Tuesday I try rejetting from the 105 mains to 100s in the CR carbs.  Also switch to gas class with the vendors Sunoco 100.  Go out and it definitely pulls harder and revs higher, over 12k in second, about 12k in third.  I go thru fourth and into fifth again but only run 112mph.   Go out again and just hold fourth gear and run 122.89, record in modified partial streamline classic gas is 120.2 (same guy) so qual for another record return.  Return is 123.7mph so three AMA national records pending.  Beautiful 62 Manx Norton over from England was running in this class but seized the crank before hitting the first half mile.  Serious folks with lots of IOM experience and other road racing experience.  I think the other records will hold.  Good seeing Dennis, Jerry, other friends, made a few new ones, met a few newbies already planning their return (salt fever hits hard).  computer dying   Thanks for following along.  Hope this helps give a sense  of things, but you guys should come out if possible.  will post a few more pics in a few days

Daves Cherry Bomb MPS 650 and I were neck in neck at 110.  Natural vs Artificial rivalry at the pits
