A New Thought About Rotors

Okay I know that there has been much discussion about drilling rotors and even some wonderful help from ElCheapo. But here is the new question I post...

What would happen if one would resurface the rotor (within specifications) and end mill channels in both faces so the total thickness inside any grove is the minimum thickness specification??? Would this not also provide the escape of braking gasses? Are there any other concerns, comments, or cautions?

Drilled AND slotted. Excellent. Brembo style.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

The rotors on my last racecar where drilled/slotted & Zinc coated to prevent glazing... ;D

I have thought of the slotted drilled rotor also, but my concept was to have the rotor ground flat, then a slot end milled on both sides of the rotor only as deep as required were the internal dimension was not less than that of the minimum rotor thickness specification. The slots would not be all the way through the rotor...

Hey ProTeal, can you supply a photo of your plated rotors and provide the name of the plating house that did the work?

I got the rotors "as they came" from a Strange Eng. here in Morton Grove, IL

I have read many articles on slotted/ drilled rotors. Some say that this is not required with new pad material that is used now a days. It out gases very little. The holes on modern motorcycle brakes is mainly for lightening. Now for the great debate this always causes when this is brought up LOL ;D
