Very nice!!  Nothing like the sound of an inline six winding through the gears.  Too bad there aren't audio recordings of Honda's 6-cylinder race bikes from the 60's.  They were supposed to be something to hear.

I think I have a couple of audio files of the vintage 6's at home - I'll check.
Can't recall exactly where I found them on the web.

Just finished reading an article in Motorcycle Classics about the CBX. I was surprised at how few ever made it into the world. According to the article, its demise was the result of; a) first year prod. bikes were delivered with the wrong advance mechanism and the originally rated 100 HP was limited to about 85 as a result. Consequently lesser machines beat it in the speed dept. and b) customer perceptions about how hard it would be to tune and maintain. The writer claimed this was not the case. Interesting read.

I played that clip for a buddy of mine who collects 70's Jap bikes. His comment was, "Man! I need a cigarette after hearing that!" :D

Ooooooooohhhhhhhh....  nice.   :)

Last summer after Laguna Seca, we were in the crowd down on Cannery Row, and a group of about 6 CBX's took off, and the one guy just kept reving the motor - I had to stop and see where THAT SOUND was coming from, just a spine tingling ripping sound.  He must have had it pretty well tuned, because it sounded an awful lot like the race bikes when they were revving up in the garages between races.  My son and I couldn't believe it was from a CBX.  Wonderful....

I don't live too far from a cycle shop that specializes in reworking the cbx.  When I'm in the mood, I can go listen to them on his dyno.  Yeah, *sniff* it's about two miles down the road.   :P :-*

The bike on the WAV clip, am told, is running a 6-1 Kerker.  Over on the CBX site, I posted about 3 or 4 for different sounds files of CBXs including an opne header turbo bike.  I own a 79 but has stock exhaust and is very quite.  My prior 79 CBX ran a 6-1 D&D pipe and man did it sound awesome power shifting at 8K.  I'm always torn on what sounds better - a H2 with stingers or a CBX on a 6-1.  Kinda like comparing a blonde to a brunete.  CB400F on a MAC or Kerker pipes with pod filters sounds pretty sweet too.

Oh hell yeah!  I know they're not stingers, but they still sound good!   ;D

:(  It's not mine...  This was sold on ebay a while back for $11,700.  Rick Brett restored it.  Are you familiar with him?  http://www.classickawasaki.com/  Some sweet stuff there!
