I've just re read all this and the BOTM thread and i think you have all had a sense of humour failure , you seem to have gone off on one over someones personal opinion?     mick.

No one has a problem with his opinion, as far as I can tell.  It's how he chose to express it.  If you didn't see the post in question on the BOTM thread (it's not there anymore), then I don't expect you to understand.  I don't see where sense of humor comes into play here.  I don't generally laugh it off when someone insults people who I like or the work that they do.  Anyway, I was over the whole issue on the BOTM thread, but then it got brought here to be re-hashed. 

I have no problem with you, Biffta.  I just don't think you see that how you chose to express your opinion could be insulting to fellow members.  That's all.  Can't we all just get along!?

            Once again, I agree with Gordon. Wording has a lot to do with the way things are taken. To say that bikes are "Butchered" to make Cafes, just isn't a way to make and keep friends IMHO. The ones we have seen here are far from "Butchered". Everyone is entitled to their opinion and to express it but, let's try to be somewhat considerate of others in doing so. For example, I'm not fond of choppers at all but, I'm not gonna jump up and condemn others just because they turned a bike into one. If that's what they want to do then, "What ever floats your boat". Then again, I can appreciate the work that goes into building a chopper. As a matter of fact, I can appreciate the amount of work that goes into the building of any style of bike.

Can I barf now? I mean really. 3 pages of this?  I have a feeling everyone here is a hippocrite. Sorry but I dont buy it from anyone that they have never insulted someone. Even buddha probably insulted people. A ban? What is that crap? You ban people like silicon doc, you ban spammers that try to flood pages with porn and med adds. You dont ban a person for a simple post just cause it may have been an insult to some people. I dont care if you are a mod or what. That is over the top. You odnt like how someone talked, inform them in private and the person that did it should then have the decency of keeping it private. It is called working together and not pussy-footing around.

 God the world is going to turn into a walking pussy with all this crap about being careful to not insult others.  The only time a ban should even be considered is if a person is repeatedly foul time and again AND it should e a consensus among ALL the mods and not just 1. You know what, this is an insult to me to see this public berating of bifta. You all act so concerned about the forum, then keep this crap private. Dont berate people for all to see! This does nothing but keep new members from joining.

What I find funny in this though is how certain members are allowed to speak harshly and talk down on others and it is allowed because they area "good" source of info. If things like this are going to happen, it needs to be applied to ALL members.

      I think there are several things that have been forgotten, overlooked or whatever. This all started because of where it was posted. It wasn't just a matter of "I don't like Cafes" & "Stock" was referenced as the way to go. All this build up and was an attempt ever made to discuss this with the mod(s)? It SEEMS like everything is out in the open. Folks have jumped on both sides of the Band Wagon, and here we are. Since I've been a member here, I've seen this pop up several times and, even though the "Cafe Builds" seem to be the main stir, it seems that behind it all is the old "750" (owners) vs the smaller fours (owners) is in there. The way things are worded can also have an effect on how things are taken also. Everyone does have an opinion and, while you shouldn't have it forced on you, you also shouldn't try to force it on others.

biffta received a letter from me this morning that was about a page and a half in microsoft word and i will quote a part here so that everyone can knock off the ban talk (a warning is not the same as banning and you should all know that)

the rest of the letter was meant for biffta... if he would like to share any of that here i give him permission to do so as it may clear up some confusion w/ other members as well.  if he choses not to, that is his own prerogative.

lastly, i would like to suggest everyone go back and read the forum rules.  not because you've broken all the rules but, it seems that we may need a refresher on the type of discussion that is allowed.  rules 4 and 5 apply to what prompted all of this in the first place.  common decency is needed and non-constructive criticism will not be tolerated.

Everyone do me a favor, be easy on the moderators, OK?  The moderators, Bob, Heffay, and Steve are a great bunch of guys who volunteer their time to help keep things going smoothly around here.  These forums are pretty darned good compared to the other forums out there, but there are moments where things get a little crazy and the moderators get involved.  You might think that involvement is just a matter of a few posts to a thread, but there is a lot of discussion behind the scenes because we all care that what we are doing is helping to improve thngs around here.  So, please do me a huge favor and cut Heffay, Bob, and Steve a break and understand that they are doing what they are doing for the benefit of everyone. 

You might not always agree with the actions the moderators take, but step back for a moment and consider whether what they are doing is for the good of the forums.  If you think otherwise, send us a PM - we'll listen.
