Dewey’s CB750 K2

Just for reference a CB750 and 2 motors will fit in the back of a Toyota Tacoma.

And so it begins…

Ha, good to know, I have a Tacoma.  You building a bike with two motors?!

Got a lift today from HF. Should make things a bit easier. None of the local HF stores had a 1000 lb engine stand. They’re supposed to have some next month,

A flat platform style scissors jack is handy if you have room between the exhaust pipes to reach the frame rails.. allows you to pull the front end apart or without a center stand it can help you lift the rear end to pull wheel etc...

Getting parts on order! This is my tracking system. I highlight the parts as I order them. I also write on the invoice what drawing the part belongs to so I know where the part goes.

Forks are pretty rough but they didn’t leak! The tops are pretty pitted and rusty.

Electrical is toast. This pin was welded to the socket. New harnesses ordered.

Tires came today. I’ve got some work to do before these get mounted up. Front and rear hubs are getting replaced.

Wow, that is quite a system, good on you!

Continentals are great tires, have them on my Kawasaki, you will really like them

If so...Here's what it looked like back in the day....
And yes...it needed an oil cooler in 100° South Texas summer heat.

Clever..... good to have the space! Fork tops look rough, but usually come apart OK.

Got them apart and new fork tubes have been received. Waiting on the seals now.

 I put the Conti twins on the nugget. I'd like to say I like them but they are still wearing their nubs so I really don't know. They rode to the car wash, to the park for pics and back home. A couple miles, tops.

Started building up the bars and noticed the left switch was rotated more forward than the right. Bars are drilled wrong. Waiting on word from supplier. Do yourself a favor and spray a little silicon on the inside of the bars to make the wires slide through more easily.

Got the forks mostly rebuilt today. Bolted the lowers to the engine stand to resurface them. Worked out pretty well. There are still some small dents still in them as I didn’t want to sand the down any further. They didn’t leak, but the tops were heavily pitted. The piston (item 7 on parts breakdown) would spin freely on the old fork. It was tight getting the bottom snap ring on and it doesn’t spin now. Is this an issue?

Yes, the damper valve still spins freely. New master cylinder, the one on the bike had lost all the black anodizing.

The stand worked great, allows you to rotate them, but I got some streaking when I cleaned the fork lowers with AlumPrep 33. I’ll restrip, clean and scotch-brite them. My first time going for an original look. I’ve polished or powder coated everything on previous bikes.

Got the gauges rebuilt today. Still need to paint the ends of the needles and the “blue” on the inner liner. What is a good color match for these two? Testors orange fluorescent paint?

Used new glass, housings, crimp rings, gaskets and face dials from Yamiya.

Also got the front forks and handle bars assembled. I ended up using Super Bike bars from Yamiya.
