a cable lube tool ?
« on: February 10, 2022, 06:20:43 PM »
I had a single thumb screw cable lube tool made by Motion Pro back in the 90's and used that all the time;don't know what happened to it,loaned it out?  ::)
I purchased a Motion Pro double thumb screw cable lube tool and it leaks All The Time and won't allow the lubricant to enter the cables at all:what a pain.I know Motion Pro makes the new small 2-piece cup tool and it doesn't excite me much:I'm used to my old style standard clamp-on type.
What have you members experienced with cable lube tools, the ones which use an aerosol can ?

They all leak a little, I like to keep the cable moving to help speed the process.

I have the new version Motion Pro. It works but it's somewhat messy. There's a void inside it where the cable end is trapped. You push the lube spray straw into the hole in the rubber piece of the Motion Pro and spray. Some of the lube goes into the cable. Some of it waits for you to unscrew the contraption so it can spill on your hands and the floor.

It works ok. Neither great nor terrible.

I've got two to increase my chances of finding one when I need it, I'll probably have a third one someday.
I think the first is Motion Pro, the other is the same style but a different color. They're all Chinesium.

I've got an old motion pro single screw one. If I get it in the sweet spot it doesn't leak at all.
But sometimes finding a G spot would be easier. :D

Some cables do not need lube, right?

Our two screw tool worked great for a while but now it leaks. To be honest we've used it a lot so maybe we wore it out. 8)

Suggestion.............
I use a made up unit.
3 or 4 inches of fuel hose or the like with an air line snap fitting attached to one end. Push the other end onto your cable. Turn your compressors gauge down low. Fill the fuel line with lube and snap it onto the airline.
Bob's your uncle!  ;)
