Topic: Trick to installing Rubber On Foot Pegs?

Anyone have a trick to pushing these on? Seem to have a VERY tight fit.

WD40 and some elbow grease if they are Honda parts. I normally have to cut the old ones off and it seems your working against the tight fit and the air trapped inside there, if they don't have a hole in the end.

Thanks all! I tossed them in a pot of hot water and brought to a boil. Pulled them out wet and kneeling over them, pushed the pegs down onto a scrap piece of wood. Bit of a grunt, but fairly easy.

Once they cooled, really well stuck.

  I have a jug of oil of wintergreen that I put in the ultrasonic tank and heat up. It's great for slicking and softening rubber.
  I cooked up some carb rubbers and then left them in a jug with some silicone lube. Every time I move the jug, I roll it around. So far the rubbers have not hardened back up las much as ones left in the air.
  One of my bikes came with a white Schwinn handgrip for a peg rubber. It was very stylish, I think I used silicone spray lube. It either evaporates or soaks in but seems to stop being slick after a while.

I use PB Blaster to install grips and footpegs. It's really slick and when it dries it gets sticky but you can still get them off with a blast of air.

This sounds smarter....I’m pretty sure I’d have to cut these off if I want d to remove.

Are they a tighter fit than hand-grips? Hair spray or whatever it use for grips would be my first choice.

Once they cooled and shrank into place, they are solid. Not coming off without being sliced, which is just fine.

Hot air gun also works well - I use one on the carb rubbers that don't want to line up..
