I was able to escort two Veterans on the honor flight to Washington DC, We started out late due to burned out lights on the plane. That caused a day long shuffle of start stop times and we didn't get to see the Aerospace Museum.
That's the downside, I got to witness these guys get a welcome they never got before, both at Washington's Dulles Airport and especially the welcome home in Moline Illinois. I'd guess a thousand or more people came to welcome them back.
We saw the WW2 memorial, looked up names at the Vietnam memorial, drove around the Iwo Jima memorial, saw the pentagon, the air Force memorial which is in the flight path of the plane that hit the pentagon. Lincolns memorial, the reflecting pool was empty for spring cleaning as was the WW2 pool. Too many others to list here.
Anyway, all of you Veterans around the world. Much respect and thank you for your service.
